Tim Olsen, AKA Entro MC, got in touch a few years ago with these photos of his incredibly accomplished tattoos, featuring lots of my artwork. I was incredibly impressed and flattered and then managed to lose the photos in a big computer crash. Thankfully, I’ve finally recovered them and they definitely deserve a posting.

He has 4 of my pics as tatts: SWAT, Hypnotism, Cancer In Britain and Hospital Superbugs.

Tim is Assistant Director of Academic Computing at The School Of The Art Institute, Chicago. He is also the highly accomplished Entro MC.

This is a very speeded-up vid of my process.

It may be a little confusing as it includes the rough stage, wherein I work out colours and tones etc. I then use this as both an undercoat and a reference for the final piece.

I hope you like it.

Here’s the direct link to the full size video on Vimeo.

Process GIFs are my new favorite thing.
These birds were ‘painted’ in photoshop (I know there is software better suited to this but I live in Photoshop – I’m comfortable there).

Click the images to see much embiggened versions.
(NOTE: the files are between 1 and 6MB so if you have a slow connection or impatient disposition, you have been warned…if you have an average connection it’ll take no time though. Click it to zoom)

I’ve decided to do some more painting and post some process images of each piece here.

This is the first one. I’m planning to post more in the near future. Some videos too, and more of my photoshop processes….
If it’s something you find useful in any way, let me know.

The final piece. Black lines made more definite in ink and the eye picked out in brown pencil and marker.
